At Travelsphere, we take our food seriously and enjoying different foods from around the world forms an important part of our itineraries. Here we take a look at just a few of the local flavours you can enjoy when you tour with us.
Our Travelsphere Cares programmes, in partnership with the Planeterra Foundation, support local projects and social enterprises by helping them earn an income from tourism. We have several tours where you can see these projects first hand - and taste some of the output!!
In Vietnam, the Oodles of Noodles project teaches the youths all there is to know about working in and running a restaurant. It also helps them to hone their English and presentation skills, and eventually they graduate with an International Culinary Arts Certificate. Many have gone on to gain employment in 5-star hotels in Da Nang and neighbouring cities. During our Invitation to Vietnam & Temples of Angkor and A Journey Through South East Asia tours, we offer a fantastic new excursion, giving you the chance to join a noodle-making class with some of the trainees, and you’ll get to try some amazing noodles too.
The Sthree Café in Kandy works with women in the local community to increase their income, strengthen their financial independence, and help them become economically empowered. The Sthree Café employs local women, providing them with a fair wage and the skills and training needed to work in the service sector. The café serves fresh, locally sourced, seasonal vegetarian cuisine and provides a traditional Sri Lankan dining experience. You will visit the Sthree Café on our ‘Highlights of Sri Lanka’ tour.
Wine aficionados will love our trip to Castello di Verrazzano on our tour of Tuscany. After a tour of the cellars, there's tasting and a light lunch of local speciality dishes on the castle's terrace overlooking miles of lush Tuscan vineyards.
During our tour of Peru, you'll visit a restaurant for a cookery class, and obviously get to sample several delicious Peruvian dishes for lunch too!
On one of our India tours, we visit a Petha shop to taste one of the most iconic street foods in Agra. Petha comes in a wide variety, right from Paan to Kesar. Being a speciality of Agra, it has people rushing over from all parts of the country due to its delicious flavour.
One thing Argentina is famed for is its beef, and on our tours, you get the opportunity to visit a traditional Gaucho ranch, Estancia Santa Susana, to experience life in the Argentinean Pampas followed by a typical barbeque lunch.
