Café Ubuntu

The Ubuntu Team, empowers communities and creates jobs through social impact businesses, including the Ubuntu Café. The team supports the Ubuntu School, which provides therapy, education, and vocational training for children with special needs.

Visit Café Ubuntu on our 'Kenya: Safari and Savannah Sunsets' tour to enjoy an excellent coffee. Make sure to take the opportunity to look around the little shop at the range of traditional products all made by local women. So why not pick up a souvenir to remember your visit.

Maai Mahiu is a very disadvantaged area with roughly an 80% unemployment rate and a lack of good education which makes it extremely difficult for women to build and empower themselves. The Ubuntu Team recognised that lasting change begins with creating jobs and building opportunities that empower the local community, such as Ubuntu Made and Ubuntu Café. Thanks to Planeterra’s partnership a customer base has been built and the initiative is actively generating employment opportunities for marginalised women in Kenya. The community has also discovered a profound sense of purpose, rekindling their hopes for creating a better future for their children.
